Time to Plant

Hello. Hopefully everyone is feeling healthy and hopeful.
Its a tough time of year for many people... the short days, post holiday blues, cold, gray days. I say, make the best of it.
Go and plant some food!!! It is so life affirming to dig in the dirt , turn the dirt , make rows of dirt to put seed in. All the while wondering how is a plant going to come from this tiny seed? Not to mention is it really going to feed me and my family?(Yes it is) Before you know it you have been so focused on planting your own food , thinking about the food to come, how amazing the process is , that you realise how relaxed you have become. Winter doesn't seem so bad after all.
I planted peas and lettuce this week. Pictures to come soon.
Do not be discouraged if you do not have a yard for your garden. A pot will do just fine for most any vegetable.
Remember, growing your own food is the best way to stay healthy in your body and spirit.

Peace and Love

  2. Hi Tylor,
Vegetables really needs sun to grow. However, food for nutritional value doesn't have to have sun. Sprouts are a great source of nutrition and there are a variety of choices: Adzuki Bean, Alfalfa, Broccoli,Onion, Wheat, etc. Mushrooms do not need sun and can be grown from a kit. Here is a link to get you started. http://www.wheatgrasskits.com/sproutingkits.htm?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=F-sprouts-sprouts

If you have any outside space at all that gets some sun you can try growing your own lettuce too.

I hope this helps get you started eating to stay healthy.
