What Do We Eat to Stay Healthy?

Hello. I know it has been awhile since I posted.

The garden is growing well. Somethings, like the bush beans , not so well. I think the birds got the seeds.

Here are my thoughts on what we should eat to stay healthy. I hope you find it useful and doable for you and your families.

My personal opinion is that what we eat should have a few basic requirements: it should be natural,it should taste good, and the food we eat should cause no harm. This seems so basic I can not believe that we have a "movement" to teach this. That as a people we have strayed so far from what is real. There is no doubt in my mind that as a people we will shift from the fake nature of what we eat now, to the whole, healthy food that our bodies are created to eat.

You may be thinking "I eat natural food. It says so on the box". By natural I mean it comes from the earth. The food is supplied it's nutrients from the sun, soil, and water. The food grows in the sun, changes colors due to the sun. If it is animal it gets to eat grass and roam freely and be treated humanly.  Natural is what God gave us. If it comes in a box it is not natural.  Grains and cereals have all been processed at a food manufacturing plant of some sort. Wouldn't we have more peace of mind knowing what has been done to our food and where it comes from? For example, we can grind our own wheat berries in a Vita-mix in order to have our own wheat flour. There are a few farmers who are mindful of the importance of growing heirloom wheat (I think they are on to something big). Now , that is  natural. "Natural " does not always mean good for you either. Lets take for example peanut butter. The leading brands may contain peanuts, palm oil, sugar and some even put in "natural flavoring" (aka msg). Peanut butter only needs peanuts . Sugar is "natural" , but not good for you , not necessary, and is highly processed. Palm oil and "natural flavoring"  .... need I say more? I make my own peanut butter at home with nothing but peanuts. It is made in small batches and put in glass jars. If someone wants it sweetened they can put agave or raw honey on it.Side note; Do not add the agave or honey to the entire batch while blending because it will become very solid which is not good to spreading. My homemade peanut butter does not separate like the natural peanut butter from the grocery store does. Maybe it gets ate so fast it does not have time to separate. My thought is that the natural peanut butter from the market may have been heated-up (pasteurized)  or has been sitting somewhere a long time. The shelf life for peanuts is about nine months when refrigerated . who knows  what the shelf life for peanut butter is when bought from the store. I know , I know, I have too much to say about peanut butter (its my favorite food !). One last word on peanut butter. Skippy, Jiff, and the supermarket brands are very , very unhealthy. Do not eat them. They contain trans fat. The front label may say no trans fat but please, please read the label it will have hydrogenated oil (anything hydrogenated is trans-fat).

If our food is not pleasing to our taste buds or our sense of smell , or sense of sight, we will not eat it. Everyone knows this. Eating to stay healthy does not mean we have to eat bland, boring, colorless meals.  We have, inadvertently, been  brainwashed and artificially bambuzzeled   into thinking so though. Tomatoes from the garden are the best tasting food ever know to man (totally this bloggers opinion ). They are also the basis for many dishes and come the winter time it is absolutely sublime to have them canned, in the pantry, to use for homemade tomato soup , to add to chili, or make a tomato sauce with. A beautiful salad of zucchini, tomato, fresh basil , yellow pear tomato, olives, and a cheese can be served for an awesome meal.

Is the food we are eating harming us? I think so. Natural food comes from the soil. If it has not touched soil or been nourished from the earth it can not be natural. Natural has not been taking steroid growth hormones. Nor is it a GMO. I do not want to eat Round-up , which is grafted into crops, mostly corn and soybeans, to make them disease resistant (YUCK!) There is a head of broccoli in my refrigerator that is over a month old. It has not changed much...at all. If the broccoli that I grow in my own garden was in the refrigerator that long is would be shriveled- up to nothing by now. (see pictures) It may even have mold on it. That would be natural.

What is needed by each individual person in regards to daily diet varies person to person. We each require something different at different times of our lives as well. That being said, what ever and when ever we eat , it should be the most naturally, nutritious, great tasting food we can (grow your own) get a hold of in order to stay healthy, happy and in harmony with our lives and those around us.

Peace and Love,
