New Ideas on Healthy Food

Eating to stay healthy is not something we can do overnight. After a lifetime of eating on the fly, not eating at all, or eating very little, it is hard to change what we know. Even if we know it is the right thing to do we still fight ourselves over doing it. To make matters even harder we are bombarded with all types of thought on what is the proper diet for today's human body. Some ideas are just nutty in my opinion. Some ideas on diet are awesome, they make good sense. The problem is they are not economically feasible for most of us. Some ideas  on nutritionally sound eating are so new and different that is will take a while to resonate with us. That is ok though, all good things come in time. So far in this journey that I have taken I choose to keep it simple . No processed food, no fake food, no fast food. I try to buy fresh food. My garden has supplied a lot of food for my family this winter. Yes , some foods we do with out. We do not buy tomatoes this time of year. In summer , when tomatoes are ripe we will have tomatoes from the garden. That is one example of how my eating habits have changed. I would like for everyone to read the following that I took from the Planet Raw web page.  Its an idea that may be new to you, it was for me. Not sure what to make of it, it will have to resonate with me for sure...I love beans and navel oranges.

WHAT ABOUT PROTEIN? RAW foods contain all the protein your body needs. Here's the simple truth: Your body makes electricity, acid, adrenalin, serotonin & many other chemicals... hair, skin, blood, nails, bones and even protein & calcium. Everything you are made of is protein instructed by DNA to become part of an organ or bone! Your body requires food to do so; good food for good long-term use; bad (or junk) food for bad short-term use. Ask an elephant, zebra, horse, rhino, ox, bull, gorilla or giraffe how many protein shakes they've had since the beginning of time. The Brachiosaurus, weighing 200 tons, thrived on a plant-based diet. In the wild, meat-eating lions sleep 18 hours a day & live for only 18 years. Plant-eating elephants live 70 years, sleeping only 4–6 hours. The countries with the highest consumption of protein actually have the highest rates of sickness, osteoporosis & protein deficiency! Deficiency in the body usually does not stem from what is lacking, but stems from what is consumed, such as cooked, processed food!
We truly are what we eat. Let us eat what we cook and cook what we grow
